ZrN Solid Carbide End Mills: High-Speed Slotting & Profiling

This program covers solid carbide end mills finished with a ZrN coating engineered for high-speed slotting and profiling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The coating supports elevated cutting speeds versus uncoated carbide and many general-purpose stacks, helping maintain sharpness and reducing adhesion when chips get hot and sticky.
The geometry is built for productivity: a 45° helix promotes faster chip evacuation out of slots and pockets, which improves wall finish and reduces re-cutting — especially on machines that can sustain aggressive feed per tooth. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry and ramping strategies without a separate drill cycle when the process allows.
We offer both stub and regular length styles so programmers can match stick-out to rigidity for roughing or reach for deep pockets without unnecessarily trading stability. Across the range, the carbide substrate and edge prep are matched to the ZrN layer so the “speed and life” benefit shows up in metered cuts, not only on paper.
For titanium, nickel-based heat-resistant alloys, and other high-temperature metals, tool choice typically moves to different coating families and edge conditioning; our applications team can quote those grades separately. If your work is primarily aluminum, copper alloys, brass, and similar non-ferrous stacks, request diameters, stick-out, and coolant strategy — we will align the right ZrN end mill to your spindle and fixture constraints.
