Custom Drill: How to Quote the Right Geometry (Diameter, Depth, Coolant)

A custom drill is easiest to quote when you specify depth, coolant, and tolerance targets. Use this RFQ checklist to get a stable drilling tool faster.

When buyers search for “custom drill”, they usually need a tool that controls chips and heat better than standard geometry, or a diameter/length combination that is not available in catalogue form. A concise RFQ prevents back-and-forth and speeds up the first article.

RFQ Checklist for a Custom Drill

  • Diameter and depth ratio (e.g. 8D, 12D) plus required flute length.
  • Material and hardness; interrupted features; through vs blind holes.
  • Coolant method and available pressure/flow for through-coolant tools.
  • Point style requirement and tolerance/finish targets.
Send your diameter, depth, and material. We will recommend geometry and quote quickly.
