A factory-floor look at our latest champagne-gold ZrN-coated carbide end mill batch for titanium, with ball nose, corner radius and long-reach tools built to customer dimensions.
This is our latest production batch of custom solid carbide end mills for titanium alloys, finished with a champagne-gold ZrN PVD coating. The batch combines ball nose and corner radius profiles, multiple diameters, and standard or long-reach constructions. Each tool was ground and coated to a customer-defined application rather than selected only by diameter.

What Is in This Titanium End Mill Batch?
The photographs show solid carbide ball nose and corner radius end mills with different cutting lengths, overall lengths and corner radii. Long-reach tools provide access to deep features, while the larger-diameter tools use substantial core sections to support the cutting edge. The coating colour is consistent across the batch and makes the ground flute and edge details easy to inspect.
| Geometry | Typical titanium operation | RFQ details to define |
|---|---|---|
| Ball nose | 3D contouring, fillets and finishing curved surfaces | Diameter, ball radius, reach, finish target and toolpath engagement |
| Corner radius | Profiling, semi-finishing and stronger-edge shoulder milling | Diameter, corner radius, flute length, radial engagement and stock allowance |
| Long reach | Deep pockets, ribs and restricted-access features | Neck diameter, reach, holder clearance, stick-out and chatter limit |
Geometry should be matched to the feature, toolpath and machine setup—not coating colour alone.

Why Coating and Geometry Must Be Specified Together
Titanium keeps heat close to the cutting zone and can adhere to the edge when chip evacuation, lubrication or engagement is poorly controlled. A coating request therefore needs to be reviewed together with flute count, helix, rake, edge preparation and coolant strategy. ZrN is one available PVD route for this custom series; final selection should be confirmed against the titanium grade, operation and the customer’s validated cutting conditions.

How to Order a Comparable Sample Batch
- Titanium grade and condition, such as Ti-6Al-4V or commercially pure titanium.
- Operation: slotting, side milling, pocketing, semi-finishing or 3D finishing.
- Diameter, flute length, overall length, shank, ball radius or corner radius.
- Machine, holder, maximum stick-out, coolant method and available spindle speed.
- Current speed/feed, failure mode, target tool life and surface-finish requirement.
- Sample quantity, annual demand, marking, packaging and inspection-report needs.
